Since 1953, La Motte Telephone Company has been serving Northeast Iowa and the towns of La Motte, St. Donatus, and Zwingle. We strive to provide you the best in Telecommunications, Internet, Cellular services, and Digital Television.
The La Motte Telephone Company became incorporated in 1953. In September of 1960, Paul Konrardy was hired as the company's first full time manager and maintenance man. In 1962, the company purchased the Zwingle Telephone Company which added approximately another 80 subscribers to the base. Later in 1968, a new switchboard office and garage was built, and a 600 line Automatic Electric switchboard was installed. Toll free dialing to Dubuque was also established at that time. In 2005, a new Coppercom Telecom digital switch was placed in service which gives the LaMotte subscribers the most up to date, state of the art service that is available.
In the year 2000, the company built a 190' PCS tower in Bellevue, IA which provides cellular PCS service throughout the La Motte and Bellevue exchange areas. Wireless internet service to Bellevue is also provided from this tower.
The company continues to grow and prosper financially, as well as develop and offer new services and the latest technology. In 2008, we rolled out Digital TV to the communities of La Motte, St. Donatus, Zwingle and Cottonville. We are continuing to build out to more rural areas and hope in the next few years to offer all of our customers our digital television service.
